The National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority (ANEPC) promotes the next day 5 November, to 11:05 hours, the National Public Exercise for Awareness of Seismic Risk, called A TERRA TREME (www.aterratreme.pt).
This year marks the 8th edition and the date indicated for its realization (5 November) coincides with World Tsunami Risk Awareness Day, ephemeris instituted by the UN.
The Exercise TERRA TREME is one of the measures included in the National Strategy for Preventive Civil Protection. It aims to empower the population to know how to act before, during and after an earthquake, sensitizing the citizen to the fact of living in a risk society, and challenging you to get involved in the process of building safer and more resilient communities.
The Exercise A TERRA TREME aims to exercise “3 gestures that save” – DOWNLOAD, PROTECT and WAIT – and make citizens aware of the preventive measures and self-protection behaviors to be adopted BEFORE, DURING and AFTER an earthquake.
The aim of the exercise is to contribute to the growth of a more secure and resilient society to disasters.
The success of the A TERRA TREME initiative lives from the degree of awareness of citizens for their involvement and participation.
