A prison guard at the Beja Prison (EPBeja) is infected with covid-19. The case was discovered on Friday and resulted from a contact with a family member. The five infected teammates take tests tomorrow.
The Directorate-General for Reintegration and Prison Services (DGRSP) confirmed that there is an EPBeja guard infected with the new coronavirus. “Within the scope of your socio-family life, performed tests in the past day 21 of December, having accused positive, for what was left in isolation at home ”, justified DGRSP Communication and Public Relations Center, who added that “four colleagues were identified as proximity contacts who were sent to stay in isolation at home. They were tested and the results are negative ”, justified.
Next to EPBeja source, the Lidador News (LN) was aware of a different version of the facts. The case will have been detected last Friday night, little was after 22,00 hours, in the pre-passage phase of the so-called afternoon shift, that runs between 16 e as 24 hours. Upon learning of the strong symptoms of his relative, the guard, who later tested positive, informed the head of service of EPBeja, leaving the place immediately, the same happened with his five colleagues on shift.
Two of the guards who had contact with the colleague did tests on their own that turned out to be negative. The five members of that shift team will return tomorrow to do covid-19 screening tests.
The EPBeja source assured LN that “there was no risk” for the remaining members of the Guard Corps and for the prison population, which at this time is around two hundred prisoners. Visits to prisoners were not affected since on weekends they are not carried out.
