Beja: Regional Museum promotes several initiatives during the month of September.


Beja Regional Museum continues to develop its regular activity. Yet, this end of September participates in various relevant initiatives.

The estate of Beja Regional Museum is housed in the Convent of Our Lady. da Conceição from 1927 and it has been expanded with collections from other monasteries and palaces of the region.

Between the rich Museum collection, the core highlight paint, composed of works by Portuguese masters, Spanish and Dutch, section lapidary, Collection of Jewelery, and archeology section, essentially centered in the Roman period, very rich in this region.

Because of its importance is stressed, in painting, the frameset of the Portuguese early school, including the Ecce Homo (checks. XV), o S. Vicente (checks. XVI) school of the Master of Sardoal, Our Lady of the Rose (checks. XVI), the Portuguese painter Francisco de Campos, and a group of four panels (checks. XVI), the Portuguese painter António Nogueira, whose paintings represent the Visitation of St. Elizabeth, the Descent from the Cross, the Resurrection and Ascension.

27 of September – Guided tours of the former Convent of the Conception, a partir the 21:00h, in partnership with the Municipality of Beja.

  • European Heritage Days

28 September - Guided tour of the exhibition "Imagianária Medieval Monuments in Beja" and existing sculptures in the building.

Workshops and clay tiles (by appointment).

28 and 29 of September - Guided tours of the exhibition "The Conception Convent of the tiles" and tile collection Museum.

  • European Mobility Week (ever held)

21 of September – "The Museum goes out" - Traditional Games in Largo opposite the Museum (10:00h/12:00h e 14:30h/16,30h), in partnership with the Municipality of Beja.
